Safety and occupational health play
a very important role in our company. Programs such as the HCP (
Hearing Conservation Program), the ERPP ( Environmental Risk Prevention
Program) and activities such as assessment of risks, ergonomics,
Fire Fighters Brigade, follow-up by the Accident Prevention Internal
Committee and others raise people’s normal awareness to higher
levels. In 2001, a campaign to boost the Work Accident Awareness
Program was launched. In addition to enhancing the correct use of
individual protection equipment on a daily basis, the campaign included
awareness-related activities.
The SSSEOM – Specialized Service in Safe Engineering and Occupational
Medicine - is responsible for the running and follow-up of 7 programs
that include the safety and occupational health of the employees,
based on the Hygiene, Safely and Occupational Medicine Policy.
Check the Programs:
ERPP - Environmental Risk Prevention Program
This program acts on the anticipation, recognition, prevention,
evaluation and control of environmental risks ( physical, chemical
and biological).
The program identifies risks at the workplace that, because of
their nature, concentration or intensity, are likely to cause
harm to the health of the worker. The control is made through
actions carried out by Environmental Teams on aspects such as
reduction of the noise level produced by machines, exhaustion,
etc., with goals established annually.
Ex.: control of noise, dust, gases, light, temperature, specification
of individual and collective protection equipment.
MCOHP – Medical Control and Occupational Health Program
Preventive program that precociously traces and diagnoses occupational
health-related problems.
As part of this Program are pre-employment physical exams, periodical
exams, functional capacity tests, and post-employment physical
exams.
Ex.: biological monitoring through X-ray exams, audimetry, spirometry,
etc.
APP – Accident Prevention Program
Ex: It aims to preventively act on the elimination and minimization
of work-related accident risks at the workplace.
The Program is developed through campaigns and technical and/or
administrative actions in order to reduce the number of accidents.
Ex.: safety audits, visual awareness campaigns ( posters, banners),
investigation and analysis of work accidents, permissions, etc.
EP – Ergonomics Program
This program studies the suitability of the workplace and activities
for the human conditions of the worker. It is developed through
ergonomic analyses in the production and administrative areas
by sub-committees.
GTP – Guidance and Training Program
It aims to raise the worker’s awareness of hygiene, safety,
and occupational medicine through theoretical and practical training
sessions.
Ex.: course on hearing conservation, Accident Prevention Internal
Committee, Protection Brigade ( that acts toward the protection
against any type of risk in the plant), instructions to third
parties carrying out any type of work in the plant), etc.
HCP – Hearing Conservation Program
It aims to preserve the hearing capacity of workers.
Ex.: recommendation for hearing protective equipment, training,
reduction of the noise level produced by machines, etc.
RPP –Respiratory Protection Program
It aims to protect the workers` respiratory tract and thus avoid
diseases that may be caused by dust, foam and other contaminants.
Ex.: recommendation for respiratory protection equipment, training,
tests to assess the efficiency of masks, etc.
